NANAY NOW OFFERS AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE FOR UNINSURED NORTH MIAMI, FL?NANAY Health Center is now open for service, following a successful Grand Opening and Health Fair last Saturday, March 13, in North Miami, Florida, attended by North Miami Mayor Joe Celestin, Councilman Scott Galvin, and Councilman Michael Blynn.
"Our goal is to provide affordable health care to those who are uninsured," says Dr. Joy Bruce, Founding President of NANAY, Inc. and CEO of NANAY Health Center. ?Our aim is to improve patient outcomes related to prevention and management of diabetes, hypertension and heart disease prevention, and to increase community awareness about the need for immunizations. Affordable access to quality health services will include geriatric, gynecological and well-child care, health education and counseling, free transport pick up, case management and provision of medical care for non-life-threatening illnesses or minor injuries.? To reduce the cost of medical care for the uninsured, NANAY is instituting a Health Access Plan (N-HAP) that can offer up to 40% discount on its low-cost medical visits and case management, including laboratory fees. Vaccines for children and three-month supplies of certain prescription drugs may also be offered to the enrollees, depending on their income level. " It is better to be seen early by a doctor, before serious complications develop that could result in death or tremendous medical expense for hospitalized patients," adds Dr. Bruce. " We hope that, someday, we will be able to offer the plan to low-income families at a reduced, sliding scale price, based on their ability to pay." The NANAY Health Center, located at 12340 NE 6th Court in North Miami, is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Saturday for registration and enrollment of patients. Free hepatitis screening and vaccination will be available every third Thursday of each month. Medical consultations will initially be available by appointment, and will be scheduled every Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hepatitis screening and vaccination will be available every third Thursday of each month. This project is partially supported by the Alliance for Aging for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, the Filipino American Ministries, Florida Department of Elder Affairs, Miami-Dade County Alliance for Human Services, Miami-Dade County Department of Health, and State of Florida Department of Health.
