South Miami -
Feb 23
Maxim Health Systems is teaming with the NANAY Health
Center to offer FLU immunizations to all Floridians over age 9 at the
upcoming 15th Annual Asian
Cultural Festival. The Flu events will take place March 5th
AND March 6th, 2005 from 10:00am ? 4:00pm at the Fruit and Spice
Park. The Fruit and Spice Park is located at 24801 SW 187th
Avenue; Homestead, FL. Blood pressure checks and immunization
awareness will also be available at the event. The 15th Annual
Asian Cultural Festival is sponsored by the Thai American Association of
South Florida, the Fruit and Spice Park, Miami-Dade Park and Recreation
Department and Miami-Dade County Asian-American Advisory Board.
Due to the recent announcement by the Florida
Department of Health Secretary John O. Agwunobi, regarding the availability
of adult and pediatric flu vaccine, all Floridians are now eligible to
receive a flu vaccination.
Note: Maxim Health
Systems will vaccinate children over the age of 9 years.
Any participant with Medicare Part B coverage will
receive their shot at no cost. Maxim will also provide free immunization to
anyone covered by the following: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, AvMed,
Wellcare, Care Plus, Health First Health Plans, Quality Health Plan, United
Healthcare, Aetna, and Preferred Care Partners. All others not covered by
the aforementioned plans may purchase their vaccinations through Maxim
Health Systems for a cost of $25. Additional flu shot clinics will
be announced as they become available.
The following process will help eliminate long wait
times and long lines.
- Appointment tickets will be distributed at the
beginning of the day, until they are gone. No appointments will be
issued prior to clinic start time.
- The number of appointment tickets will correspond
to the number of shots available. An appointment ticket is a guaranteed
flu shot.
- Each ticket will indicate an appointment slot
(example 9:00 am to 9:30 am). Some appointment slots may be immediate
and some may be a little later in the day. To prevent long lines, once
an appointment time is given, individuals may be encouraged to leave and
return within 15 minutes of their appointment time.
- There will be a limited number of doses for each
clinic location. Immunizations will be given on a first come, first
served basis.
