NANAY Health
Center, located in North Miami, is offering free vaccines
for uninsured or underinsured
children and affordable primary health care to those who are
uninsured and medically underserved.
Free Vaccines for Children will be available at the health
center from 9 am to 5 pm on July 27 through 29, in time for
the opening of the school year.
"Our goal is to reduce health disparities, particularly
among uninsured Asians, Haitians and other ethnic
minorities," says Dr. Joy Bruce, Founding President and CEO
of NANAY, Inc. and NANAY Health Center. "Hospital emergency
room visit for a simple sore throat may cost an uninsured
patient up to $500 for medical care and laboratory tests,
while at the NANAY Health Center, an initial visit will be
considerably more affordable, on sliding scale fees based on
the individual?s ability to pay, and with much less waiting
time."
FREE vaccines are currently offered to uninsured children so
that they can satisfy the requirements for admission to this
coming school year that begins in August.
"Our NANAY Health Access plan (N-HAP) will address the high
cost of medical care that usually prevents uninsured
individuals from seeing their doctors for preventive and
primary health care," adds Dr. Bruce. "It is better to be
seen early by a doctor, before serious complications develop
that could result in death or tremendous medical expense for
hospitalized patients."

Florida, Alliance for Aging for Miami-Dade and Monroe
Counties, Florida Department of Elder Affairs, Miami-Dade
County Alliance for Human Services, Miami-Dade County
Department of Health, and State of Florida Department of
Health.
